The book “Introduction to Mycology” presents a detailed study on all that concerns fungi with five chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the general characteristics of fungi, such as the difference between macroscopic and microscopic fungi, unicellular and multi-cellular fungi, as well as the main cellular constituents of the fungal cell. The second chapter presents the different modes of mushroom reproduction, such as sexual and asexual reproduction, in addition to a detailed presentation on the different types of sexual and asexual spores of terrestrial and aquatic fungi. The third chapter is devoted to the presentation of the different life styles of fungi in nature, as well as the relationship of fungi with other living organisms, such as higher, lower plants and insects. The fourth chapters present the classification of mushrooms and the main types of the classification of mushrooms with some examples of certain species of mushrooms. The fifth is the final chapter on the roles and importance of mushrooms, including the use of mushrooms in the food and pharmaceutical industry
